Volunteers Needed - Ironman World Championships

— October 3, 2013 —

Aloha Kakou,

Mahalo nui for the great response for this upcoming weekend’s Ironman Fun Swim water patrollers. (10/5) It’ll be a fantastic event – especially if Kai Opua is involved.

But don’t forget that THE IRONMAN RACE IS ON SATURDAY, OCT 12.

The club has their aid station right on the pier! What a great way to view the swim, bike and run. We need sign-ups now so we can get the shirt order in.

There’s a morning shift 6 am – 12:30 pm
and the afternoon shift – 12 pm to 6 pm. Pau!

I know everyone likes the morning shift, but first come first serve. Once all the slots are filled for the morning then only afternoon available. And if that is done then it is off to the changing tents and bag handling. So contact our volunteer guru – Barbara Prestia with your information.

BTW - please include:

  • Shift?
  • Shirt Size?
  • People count? – (like maybe your Ohana like come too!).

Barb – Barbara.prestia@gmail.com  or you can contact Jo Ma at jomafarm@msn.com.

There’ll be another email blast for the particulars like “where do I pick up my shirt and passes? Where can I sign my waiver?” It’s in the works.

And don’t forget too that Kai 'Opua operates the swim booth the week before Ironman. If you can help, it is open from 6 am – 9 am. Swimmers check in their stuff and when they’re done they pick up their stuff. Easy but it can get hectic. Work all or just an hour or two. Whatever, just be part of the head count (Thursday – Underwear parade!).

FYI – There will be no a.m. paddling on Wed, Thurs or Friday. There will only be 2 canoes on the beach and they are reserved for the Ironman V.I.P (besides you should be at the swim booth swinging bags!) THIS IS ONE OF THE LAST FUNDRAISER OF THE YEAR. DON’T MISS OUT ON ALL THE FUN!!!
