The 12th Annual Businessmen's Regatta Results

— April 22, 2011 —

Kai 'Opua Canoe Club successfully sponsored its 12th annual Businessmen's Regatta on Sunday, April 10. Held annually at the Kona pier near Kamakahonu beach, the event raises money for Kai Opua's club and racing activities and this year, 20 percent of the proceeds went to benefit the tsunami relief fund for Japan.

Although the day began with clouds, the rain stayed clear and the crowd of paddlers and supporters had the chance to appreciate a great day of racing and events. And if the action in the water wasn't enough, the spectators were also treated to an array of creative and unique team costumes - always a crowd favorite! The after-regatta party was equally as wonderful and gave the paddlers a chance to relax and unwind while enjoying each other's company and also the delicious food and drink served afterwards. Special thanks go out to this year's race sponsors: Huggo's and Steinlager for their fantastic support and post-regatta party goodies. And of course a big mahalo goes out to all the businesses and paddlers who participated in the regatta - it was great day had by all!

If your business is interested sponsoring a team or participating in next year's regatta, please contact us at info@kaiopua.org for more details.
