KAI ‘ŌPUA NEWS

Aloha to all Kai ‘Ōpua members, ohana and mo’opuna.

We’re exiting September with the Na Wahine O ke Kai on Sunday, Sept 28th. Kai ‘Ōpua has an open women’s crew participating, while a few other ladies and juniors are jumping with other clubs to get their “Channel” experience.

The men will have a couple of crews for the Moloka’I Hoe 2 weeks later on Sunday, Oct. 12.
Live tracking for your favorite crews and merchandise sales are also available. Link below:

Enter October with the bi-annual Hulihe’e Palace cleanup on Saturday, October 4 from 8 am to 10:30 am. Kai’Ōpua as a club community service partners with the Daughters of Hulihe’e Palace in doing yard maintenance and interior cleaning of the Palace and kitchen. This time around we will only be doing the interior of the Palace which includes window washing, polishing etc. Link for the signup below. We usually get a good number of volunteers, so it will not take long.

Ironman Swim Bag booth week of Oct. 5 from 5:45 am – 9:45 am
Kai ‘
Ōpua will again be hosting a booth in front of the ABC stores at the pier. We’ve done this booth for ages since Uncle Bo times. We get monies for this, but it’s the fun to ogle at the athletes, talk story with them and see what freebies are given out. The athletes are so grateful for this service and yes. And of course, the underwear run on Thursday – more ogling (not for the faint of heart).
Need about 20 volunteers per day. Don’t have to stay the whole time, but Thursday it is peak help needed. Signup link below. Looks for the tabs on the bottom as to the days that you’re volunteering for:

And save the date and inventory your items for the every 2 years Kai Ōpua rummage sale to be done at our canoe halau on November 8th. We’ll be collecting two weeks and up prior.

This is a GREAT way to down-size your personal items (and yes, then you get to buy new stuff!). Just no junk please. This has been a HUGE AND SUCCESSFUL fundraiser. We’ve done it about 2-3 times and yes, it is a lot of work to price and segregate items, but if you want in on this, Ellie Vannata is in charge. Particulars coming later.
